With funding of over £4,000, the charity has provided Bilisoft phototherapy blankets, an innovative solution that allows babies to receive essential treatment while remaining close to their parents. Instead of separation, families can stay together, holding their newborns skin-to-skin throughout the process. This simple yet powerful change makes an incredible difference. Parents are able to comfort and soothe their baby, easing anxiety during an uncertain time. The warmth and closeness help strengthen emotional bonds, while also supporting a mother’s milk supply and giving newborns the reassurance they need. The benefits extend even further. Skin-to-skin contact helps lower a baby’s stress levels, reducing cortisol and supporting healthy brain development. It also minimises the potential long-term emotional impact that early separation can bring. What was once a clinical and isolating experience becomes one filled with connection, comfort, and care. Through its support, Bay Hospitals Charity is not only funding advanced medical equipment, it is ensuring that families can stay together when it matters most, giving every baby the best possible start in life. ASU Staff Take on Three Peaks Challenge to Improve Patient Care

Healthcare staff from the Acute Stroke Unit (ASU) are preparing to take on the demanding Three Peaks Challenge on 26 July in a fundraising effort to enhance patient care. The dedicated team will climb the UK’s three highest mountains in just 24 hours, pushing themselves physically to raise funds for much-needed equipment that will directly benefit their patients.

We are a small team dedicated to achieving big things. We manage all fundraising and donations for the NHS University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust, including the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Furness General Hospital and Westmorland General Hospital also Ulverston, Millom and our Community teams.

Fundraising is a great way to socialise, have fun and stay healthy. You could join a group, organise your own event or get involved with ours. The funds you raise go towards the care and treatment of local straight to the people. Let’s help make it better for everyone.
Volunteer

We are not currently accepting volunteer applications. Volunteering for your local hospital can be a very rewarding experience, particularly knowing that your efforts are directly helping patients going through treatment. Whether you are a seasoned fundraiser or you are looking to build up some new experience, even if you only have an hour a month, there will be a way you can help.

£84,000 donation supports NHS workers in Lancashire and Cumbria
