This new room at Furness General Hospital has been created to enable parents to stay on the Special Care Baby Unit if their newly-born baby is poorly, or needs that little bit of extra help.

We are so grateful to the amazing fundraisers who made this happen, like the Simpson family who raised over £9,000.

In addition to funding the parents' room, the family’s generous donation also allowed us to purchase four recliner chairs on the Special Care Baby Unit. These chairs allow new mums, or their partners to hold their babies by the side of the incubators or cot side and are more comfortable for new mums who have had a caesarean birth. The chairs can also be turned into flat beds, allowing partners to stay over.
