We’ve decided that for National Supported Internship Day, it’s time for us to give back.

Firstly, what is NSID? Last year, Parliament declared that 27th March would be recognised as National Supported Internship Day. An annual day to raise awareness of Supported Internships and the benefits for not only the interns, but those who have the pleasure of working alongside them.

Last year, DFN Project SEARCH Furness General Hospital won the national competition to raise awareness by climbing 3 wainwrights. So this year, we are aiming for another win!

This year, we are giving back to those who support us daily. On Thursday 14th March, will be meeting at Furness College at 9:30am, ready for a 10am start. We will be pushing wheelchairs all the way from Furness College, around Barrow and ending at Furness General Hospital, raising money for Bay Hospitals Charity in the process.

If you would like to join us, please email [email protected]. The only thing we ask is that you wear something purple.

We will be taking lots of pictures to share on NATIONAL SUPPORTED INTERNSHIP DAY.
Hoping to see some of you on Thursday 14th March. Melanie Braithwaite
