A great big Bay Hospitals Charity Thank You to all Keswick to Barrow, Coniston to Barrow and Cross Bay Walkers.  We had a very busy weekend of events and we are so grateful to every single walker who gave up their Saturday to take part.  The weather was lovely and our walkers definitely went the extra mile in supporting our local hospitals, not forgetting all the volunteers who supported these events.  You are all stars.

300 Bay Hospitals Charity supporters made their way across the iconic sands of Morecambe Bay, having walked eight miles from Arnside to Kents Bank, led by The Queen’s Guide, Cederic Robinson MBE.

3 teams of Bayb’s Supporters took on the gruelling challenges of walking the 42 miles from Keswick to Barrow or 20 miles from Coniston to Barrow. Volunteers took to their support cars and were on hand to offer walkers much needed refreshments and encouragement, keeping spirits high and teams motivated to complete this mammoth charity walk.  Please email us with your photos, stories and blistering tales – mailto:charity@mbht.nhs.uk

All money raised from this year’s entry fees and sponsorship will go to support the Bayb’s Maternity Appeal, which launched in February with an ambitious £250,000 target for a shopping list of “extras”, aimed at giving our new maternity unit at Furness General Hospital a real home from home feel for local families and for newborns, the best possible start in life.
