A new Head of Charity has been appointed to lead Bay Hospitals Charity, taking responsibility for fundraising in support of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.

Suzanne Lofthouse, who currently works as a Clinical Service Manager for UHMBT, joins the charity in August.

She said: “During the pandemic I started looking for a new role in the charity sector, and so when I saw the job with Bay Hospitals Charity advertised it seemed like fate.

“My children are growing up, and now it’s time for me. I wanted a job I could get my teeth into and make my own. I’m hoping I can make a mark here and help to increase the visibility of the charity.

“I’ve worked at UHMBT for a long time and I am very happy to be continuing my connection to the Trust in this new role.”

Suzanne joined the Trust nine years ago, working in a number of operational roles managing services in the Medicine Care Group, including a period as Deputy Associate Director of Operations for Women’s and Children’s Services.

Prior to joining UHMBT, she worked in a number of different roles in the public sector, including local authority and NHS posts in North Cumbria, and held voluntary positions as a school governor and treasurer of an after-school club.

Suzanne said: “At times you need to stretch yourself, and for me this is an opportunity to learn, expand my knowledge and meet new people.

“I’m a very committed person and I always put my heart and soul into everything. I’m keen to get on and do something different but still be part of the Trust.”

Bay Hospitals Charity funds the latest equipment for University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust to help make patients more comfortable and ensure they get the best possible care and treatment.

UHMBT Director of Corporate Affairs Phil Woodford said: “We’re very pleased to be welcoming Suzanne to the Bay Hospitals Charity team.

“Her passion for the Trust and the NHS, her energy and drive, and her network of contacts both inside and outside the Trust will help her to make a significant contribution to driving the charity forward - helping it to do even more to support our patients.”
