Generous students at Furness Academy held a Summer Fair on the 17th July this year to raise money for Children’s Outpatients at Furness General Hospital. The students organised traditional stalls, bouncy castles, stocks, glitter tables and a chocolate tombola, raising a fantastic sum of £1,167.
Teacher and Lead of Student Voice at Furness Academy Kelsey Smith said, “Every year at Furness Academy we hold a Summer Fair and we raise money for a local charity or cause. This year some of my students came to see me to say that they had heard that our very own local children’s ward was struggling and had no toys or equipment for when the young people come to them.
“Our students felt very strongly about this and wanted to do something to help. The students raised this at our Student Voice meeting and it was decided and voted on that the money we raised this year from our summer fair would go to Furness General Hospital. The pupils worked really hard organising and executing the event to ensure that it was a success and we were delighted that we managed to raise £1167.77.”
