Staff from the Barrow branch of Dunelm visited Furness General Hospital this week to deliver Christmas gift bags for patients on the Children’s Ward.

Manager Jonathan Sparks and Deputy Manager Tammy Harris visited the hospital to hand over gifts collected through the store’s ‘Delivering Joy’ campaign.

Customers at Dunelm and the neighbouring Apollo Bingo donated the gifts, and members of the store’s community Facebook page voted to send them to children at the hospital.

Tammy said: “We did well over 100 gift bags for the Children’s Ward. Our customers are so appreciative of Furness General, and everybody loved that the gifts were going to the Children’s Ward.”

The team handed-over the gifts outside the hospital to ensure a Covid-safe visit.

Bay Hospitals Charity Manager Judith Read said: “We’re extremely grateful to the Dunelm team and customers for thinking of the children at Furness General Hospital this Christmas.

“There’s so much Christmas spirit in the generosity that has been shown.”
