Bay Hospitals Charity, the official charity of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT), the trust which runs the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) and Furness General Hospital (FGH) is calling on schools and businesses across Lancaster and Barrow-in Furness to take part in Christmas Jumper Day next Friday (14 December) to help make Christmas extra special this year for children who will be in hospital over the Christmas period.
Fran Campion, Matron, RLI Children’s Unit, said: “I love wearing my Christmas jumper, and I think that it’s a wonderful idea that staff across our hospital, and hopefully local schools and businesses will wear their Christmas jumpers next Friday to help raise money for children and young people in hospital, and help make this Christmas special for them during a very difficult time for them, their families and carers”.
Judith Read, Charity Co-ordinator at Bay Hospitals Charity said: “Christmas is a time for family, but what if your child is spending it in hospital? At Bay Hospitals Charity we want to help make this Christmas extra special.
“Christmas is such a magical time of year with snowmen, reindeers and of course Father Christmas – and along with all our incredible doctors and nurses and staff working across the RLI, who will be wearing their best Christmas Jumper or Christmas t-shirt, we are calling on local school children and local businesses across Lancaster and Barrow-in Furness to help make Christmas as festive as possible for those children staying in our hospital.
“All you need to do is wear your best Christmas jumper to help spread some festive cheer.
“Everyone who wears a festive jumper next Friday (14 December) and donate either £1 or £2 to Bay Hospitals Charity will help us to spread a little magic throughout the hospital this Christmas.
“We’ve chosen Friday December 14 for this fun event but you can pick a day that works best for your friends, family or colleagues too.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing as many local school children or local businesses wearing their Christmas jumpers on 14 December so don’t forget to share your Christmas Jumper pictures with us on Facebook or tweet us @bayhospitals
“If you would like to take part we suggest a donation of £1 or £2 for wearing your jumper to school or work. All donations will go to the RLI Children’s Ward”.
