Cat Smith, MP for Lancaster and Fleetwood, took part in a sponsored walk around Lancaster on Sunday 18th August to raise funds for the Royal Lancaster Infirmary through Bay Hospitals Charity.
Cat said, “I’m delighted to be donning my walking boots and supporting the amazing work of the Bay Hospitals Charity. The charity is committed to creating the best possible experience for patients and their families. The money it raises helps make a huge difference to local people, including patients with cancer, those living with dementia, those who’ve suffered a stroke, or newborn babies who may need extra support. I’d like to thank the charity and their supporters for all their hard work and commitment.”
The walk is one of three that have been organised by tireless volunteer Terry Ainsworth, who decided to ‘give back’ to the NHS after receiving outstanding care following a difficult operation at Lancaster Infirmary last year.
Ian Johnson, Chair of Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust, thanked Cat for her support and involvement, saying “I would like to extend my personal thanks to Cat for supporting our hospital charity this month. The funds raised for Bay Hospitals Charity are invaluable in making the hospital experience better and this would not be possible if not for the contribution of our supporters.”
