Local band Soul Survivors put a spring in the step of those at a sell-out Spring Dance at Hawcoat Park Social Club, Barrow, which raised nearly £5,000 for the Bayb’s Maternity Appeal.
Two lucky bidders each won a luxury Mercedes for a weekend, courtesy of Ulverston’s Marshall Mercedes-Benz of South Lakes.

Ulverston-based electrical safety specialist Bender UK Ltd’s sponsorship of the dance ensured that all money raised by ticket sales go directly to the appeal’s coffers rather than cover costs such as room hire.

The Bayb’s Maternity Appeal currently stands at over £50,000, it has an ambitious £250,000 target for a catalogue of “little extras” to help give newborns born at Furness General Hospital’s new £12 million maternity unit, the best start in life, it also aims to make the new unit among the best equipped and most comfortable in the country.
